    Springfield XD

Just bought a Springfield XD 5" in 9mm. I'm not a huge "plastic gun" fan but most of the folks I shoot with in OR have some sort of Glock, Springfield full sized poly pistol to do their "run & gun" fun with, I got this as a utilitarian pistol to participate with. I have an S&W M&P 4" and would like to set up the XD trigger as near as possible to the Smith. My Smith has the Apex flat "fast forward" trigger with competition sear. My SA break is about 2.5 lbs - just a nice "click" and the striker drops.

What should I get for the XD to come close to that, and of the few on line aftermarket XD parts sellers who is best?

Let The Trigger Guy work his magic. Former CA resident has relocated to AZ but has a quick turnaround thru the mail. Has worked on two of my XD guns with amazing improvement - like buttah. Tell him what you want, he's easy & friendly to work with.

Otherwise, you can send your XD to Springfield Armory for their Competition trigger job. This is also covered by their lifetime warranty.
I've checked out their website & YouTube. I've done my own work on a fair number of pistols, this doesn't seem particularly complicated. I don't mind dropping a few $$$ when there's a good result, just did the SRT and GreyGuns bit with my Sig 229. But I can't tell if the Powder River kit contains a metal alloy trigger or a poly trigger. I see the value of the sear and safety lever, the springs. But I'm not seeing the value in the trigger if all it does is limit overtravel and is plastic. Am I missing something?

I have several of their triggers, it's no issue at all. It's plastic because you can customize the overall draw length of the trigger by sanding down the rear of the trigger to fit your needs.

I would get a PRP no problem

I've used XDs in competition for years. My 9mm models were customized by Canyon Creek, but for my 45 model, I put in the Powder River kit. I wouldn't say the kit matches an actual gunsmith trigger job, but it comes about 80% of the way. I'm very happy with the way the XD45 shoots.

Nice, they even have a series of upgrade parts for the XD-S!

Love how they'll sell the base pistol at a competitive rate, you can check the boxes to have whatever mods you want installed before shipping, that would save some time & money. APG member too. Bookmarking that.

Normally I'm a bit reticent about modifying triggers & safeties on an SD gun, but now I'm out of Cali and in a gun-friendly state, I think it would be much less of a problem. Heck a jury of my peers here probably wouldn't care if a homeowner shot an intruder with a suppressed full auto SMG.
I meant, it is my opinion that...

The safety lever and reset reminds me of the Sig SRT "short reset" kit. When you breakdown what costs what according to buying separate - the PRP trigger is about $32.00, the sear is about $35.00 and the two springs are about $12.00 total. That means the safety lever, which I don't see listed separately, costs about $60.00. The animated video shows how it reduces pre-travel. I guess if it does what it's supposed to it's worth it.

Will a trigger kit for the XDM work on an XD? Was thinking of going with this:
