Springfield Trophy Match insight

I have a Springfield 1911 Trophy Match. I've had it maybe 6 months. I bought it used and I haven't broken it down to clean it until today. Once apart I noticed the number "933" written on the frame, slide, and barrel. It was crudely written with an electric pencil. Is this normal? There are a lot of machining marks and a lot of the surfaces aren't polished (or even smoothed) on this gun, that on other guns are (such as the top of the frame rails, or the rails themselves). That being said, the gun is butter smooth and tight. It is my favorite 1911 that I own and my groups are the best with. I have 3 others, a Sig, Kimber, and Rock Island. Is this normal for a Trophy Match and/or Springfield 1911's in general?

It's normal. That way during the build process all the parts that started together, end up together for that night tight fit.

perfectly normal , some 1911s even had numbers engraved behind the firing pin retainer plate but I think that movement died out

Mine has it too. The Trophy Match has some hand fitting that's goes into it. Mine is tight but not Baer tight.
