Between the gun weight and the compensation for blast the gun is not that hard to shoot.

My 460 is great fun to shoot... a little bit. I wouldn't want to shoot it all day.
It either draws a crowd, or sends 'em away.

Put some Underwood in it . Makes for some challengimg follow up shots . Some 700 Grain rounds in My 500 mag will wake a shooter up . I've got a great video of my Bestfriend shooting a 325 grain round for the first time in 500 mag. The look. On his face and what he says is Hilarious. I also own a Ruger Alaskan in 44 Mag , Desert Eagle in 50 ae and 44 mag . All seem tame once a couple of 500 mag rds get shoot . Definitely take flinch away on a smaller caliber gun .

            I shoot one of 44, 460XVR 10.5, 500SW 8.375 every week (50-100 rounds)
            recoil for serious ammos are...
            (1) 500SW 70oz, 350gr 1750fps
            (2) 44 Mag 50oz, 240gr 1400fps
            (3) 460 80oz, 250gr 1900fps
460 uses twice powder than 44. so big blast and noise, but thanks to heavy weight, easy to shoot. great range toy.

I've been jonesing for one of those ever since I shot a friend's .500 mag.

Recoil is manageable for sure, but after 10 rounds I soon discovered that the hand damage is noticeably "cumulative. " About an hour after, my hands started tingling, and the irritable sensation lingered for several days. I just need to shoot one on a regular basis I guess.

                      I LOVE my 460V!

Though I’m not particularly recoil sensitive, I find the noise and muzzle blast to be the limiting factor on how many rounds I can put through it in a day.

Padded lifting gloves go a long way to protect the soft tissue of the hand.

Or give you a permanent flinch, even if your wife gets up too fast from the dinner table LOL.

I don’t have a 500, but have a couple Casulls and a 45-70 revolver. Whenever I shoot them (which typically is in the weeks before hunting or pack season and usually not much else), I will kind of do like gym rats call a pyramid.

I WARM up with smaller calibers, and move to the heavy stuff, and then work back down, with breaks between to calm my mind a bit.
This seems to really help me with preventing acquiring a flinch. They can be a devil for a hunter - and I don’t know about you, but after a bit I start to anticipate.
I think it is my mind trying to get the heck away from whatever keeps making the loud boom.

But yeah, I always start and finish with smaller calibers, particularly to avoid getting a flinch.

I agree. I've got the 8-3/8 XVR and it's not the recoil, it's the concussion. The stouter loads feel like somebody is reaching around your head from behind you and whacking both sides of your nose.

As far as recoil to the hand, my 5.5-inch Ruger Redhawk .44 mag is way worse in my opinion.
