Name this slide cut!

I’ve got faith that a 1911 guru here is going to help shed some light on this mystery...I can’t solidify what kind of rear sight cut this is!

I’m thinking it’s a Bomar that mated with a Novak and made some kind of Bovmak situation. The dovetail looks wider than a normal Bomar.





I’d like to get some sights on this baby but I’ve got no idea what will fit. Help!

Ask mods to move this to gunsmith forum you may get better insight. Do you have calipers to measure the dovetail base width?

I figured this forum gets more traffic, so higher probability of success. That being said mods can move if needed, no sweat.

And yes, I have a good dial caliper if it gets that scientific!

Looks like it used to be a bomar bmcs cut. Then dovetail was modified - enlarged to where it extended past the screw hole.

So I think you are on the right track. Definitely ask in gunsmithing section (just link to this thread) and if no one has a clue, ask on 1911 forum (different forum altogether) in their gunsmithing section.

I would be really interested to find out if that modification was done to bomar cuts.
