    Threaded barrel question

So, I haven't found much of an answer on this. I know a threaded barrel constitutes an Assault weapon if it's on the pistol. However if there's a pinned and welded compensator on the barrel, does this still violate assault weapon laws? Anyone have any resources or anything to read up on and POI the me in the right direction?

Pinned or welded no, not a threaded barrel.

The BATFE has rules on threaded barrels vs pinned that to back to the 1994 federal clintion assault weapons ban that ended in 2004. Same with adding a barrel extension such as pin and welding a flash hider onto a 14 1/2” M4 barrel to make it longer than the 16” requirement

The bummer with pistols is how to remove the barrel from the slide if needed???

If you have a handgun where you can slide the barrel out of the slide from the front of the slide, it is easy.

If you have a glock and you want to convert it to 460 Rowland, then you need a brake. So you get to pin the brake and weld over the pin.

I am not sure if CA has an approved process such as silver solder and not mig/tig or if a blind weld is required.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Thank you guys, I hadn't even thought about how taking the slide off would be a problem. Back to the drawing board I guess.

I just saw a low profile thread protector on eBay last night that allegedly is thin enough to allow removal of the barrel.
