Chiappa Rhino SAO conversion

I am looking to buy a Chiappa Rhino 60SAR but have a hard time finding it
Chiappa tells me they have it in stock but no CA vendor seems to have it.

Riflegear offers me a DS60 with a SAO conversion and claims that this is legal in CA.

Is this correct?

i believe that is correct. they are off roster so they need to be SAO when initially sold. after that, you can convert it back to normal with a few parts that cost about $50. conversion can be a bit tricky, but can be done with basic tools and a little attention to detail.

Correct. My wife just got hers and it was SAO on pick up and converted to DA aftyer.

Yes RG single action conversion is $50.
(1) I order them
(2) They remove DA, DROS as SA
(3) 10 days later, at pickup, it's still SA
(4) after pickup, I ask RG Gunsmith to install some parts

An exemption to needing to be listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale is the single-action revolver exemption (SAE).

In order to qualify for SAE, the revolver must have the following requirements: [PC 32100(a)]
1. Be single-action only.
2. Have a cylinder with five or more chambers.
3. Have a minimum barrel length of 3".
4. Have a minimum overall length of 7.5".

This allows off-Roster double-action revolvers with the required dimensions to be modified to single-action only and be legally imported/transferred under SAE.
