    Ruger Blackhawk 30 cal

I got to shoot a Ruger Blackhawk that uses the M1 carbine 30 cal awhile back and wanted one.
i found a nice one and am very happy. I know about the negatives Not being a rimed cartridge can cause spent shells sticking in the cylender.I do not care.I keep my guns very clean and i like the light recoil but big bang. From watching videos about them i found out it is one of the most accurate pistols out their. Ammo is fairly cheap compared to some magnum pistol ammo..

I have one myself and love to shoot it. As for ammo, I've found the steel case ammo (i.e. Herters) does get stuck after firing. I haven't had any problem with brass though.

Enjoy and don't let any naysayer get to you!

Yep, always wanted to replace the one I had many years ago. That and the Automag III I sold like a dummy!

The .30 Blackhawk is one of those guns I’ve always NEEDED but never took the time to acquire. I keep hearing the recoil is minimal but the report is the exciting part. Probably a lot of fun to reach out and murder soda cans at the 100 yard mark!

Because the 30 carbine round is intended for a rifle barrel much of its energy is wasted as it comes out a pistol barrel. It helps soften the recoil and makes a big fireball & loud bang which is half the fun at the public range. It is nothing special ballistically but not too bad.

Polish the chambers. Then polish them some more.

I have alwaus heard that they are very loud. I saw that one of the derringer companies offers one in this caliber.

I had a Ruger BH and an AMT both are long gone due to Muzzle blast. They were not fun at all. I shoot larger cartridges at half the blast and achieve better ballistics. Just me

I was interested but TTAG says...
"One of my early reloads (a 110-grain Hornady FMJ over 13.7 grains of IMR 4227—a very light load) chronoed an average of 1706 fps(M1). from the (Ruger BlackHawk 30) carbine, and only 1239 fps. from the Blackhawk, giving an average velocity drop of 467 fps."

so went to Ruger Single Seven (327 Federal), 100gr + 2400 12.0gr can go 1450fps
so far satisfied, small bullet / high velocity is fun to shoot long distance.

anyone reloading and having Chrono 30 carbine for BlackHawk?

I had one for may years (sold it) and have to say, using my standard carbine load (11.5 gr of 2400) that was the LOUDEST pistol I ever shot..Its a much higher pitched crack than the others. Fun gun...shoulda held onto it.

                            My 30 Carbine combo

Gotta love it . Not sure on ballistics or Lack there of when going from the carbine to the Pistol but the Pistol is a absolute tack driver . And I'm stI'll trying to Find a 30 Carbine Blackhawk. Everytime I find one for a decent price something ends up blowing deal .
