Is Dan Wesson frame girth different on models ?

Hello.. does anyone know for certain if the CBOB (36.5oz forged version) is the same dimensions as the VBOB (36.5oz) ? Not sure why, but the CBOB appears to me to be a wider (bulkier) piece, while the VBOB seems more svelte.

Think it's the grips alone that does it ?

    Thank you

From everything I have read, the change to one of the frames came about is 2010. I can't remember which one, but u also remember seeing Vbob having slimmer grips like Valor than Cbob with standard grip thickness.

Some say that by now (current or recent production they may be the same).

Sorry, chiming in not as an expert, but as a Browser of forums with iffy memory.

So it may just be the grips at this point.

I have a pm-9 and a Valor-9, both 2016 vintage. Frame width is identical but the Valor came with thin grips. Std grips on the pm.

Just remember if you want to replace the standard grips for slim line, you also have to replace the standard grip screw bushings and screws for slim line. And vice versa.

For that hardware I would look at Challis Grips. Their bushings, o-rings, etc. Superb.

Concur with Moison on Challis bushings! Did exactly that on the pm-9

Challis bushings and parts are worth every penny...

However, if you want interchangeability, VZ sells universal bushings that allows mounting of either standard or slim grips. Prior to getting Challis the VZs are all I've used, so my wife with small hands can shoot any of my 1911s with a simple change of grips.

Interesting. Are they different from slim line?

                      Thanks for the replies.

FWIW.. it appears all the 1911 have the same width, 1.45", if that figure is off the frames. Must be the grips that make the CBOB seem bulkier.
