    Browning Hi Powers discontinued?

So I heard tell that all hi powers are now out of production and what few models left on the roster will probably fall off at the end of the year unless something changes. I doubt Browning would renew on a completely out of production gun, but it has happened before with Berretta.

I tried to have my ffl order me one and he couldn’t find any at all from any distributor. I think he checked 6. Online searches have turned up no stock at all. When someone told me hey were discontinued I searched and found a bunch of threads from back in July this year that basically said that Browning is done importing them and FN quit making them entirely.

Are there any new updates about this? I’ve seen nothing official unless they just decided to let it die a quiet death.

If Browning decides to continue making the model, they will probably have to either import one of the other clones, or find a new partner to start a new manufacturing line. You would think that Nighthawk and Wilson might want to help contribute to the cause, but it may simply be that the gun is no longer popular enough to warrant anything more than limited runs.

FN has done that in the past, limited runs for refreshing part lines, and they may do another run at some future point, but not right now.

None of this matters to CA folks, as by the time there is any movement, the roster listing will have expired as the model is not for sale any longer.

I suspect the ones being sold in the future in the marketplace to sky rocket in price.

Thank god, hi points are lame.

Just jailed a surplus FN BHP. They were plentiful for a while at Aim surplus. Seems like they sold out earlier this summer.

I expect prices to increase in the following years.

I think I saw it first in Firearms News (the old Shotgun News) followed up by a mention in either Guns or American Handgunner magazines.
Massad Ayoob brought back the awful news after a recent trip to FN in Belgium.
Supposedly the tooling is worn out and sales do not justify all new tooling.

Browning never made the HP, they only marketed it.

Yep. Even beyond what they cost now. Jeff Cooper called it and the CZ75 the 2 greatest combat pistols.

Forgot the word "available" in that sentence. However, if Browning does decide to find another partner they will be making it.

Maybe, but all-metal guns qualitatively feel better to me and are more enjoyable IMHO.

                            My collection has 42% all steel, 25% all stainless, 25% stainless/alloy and 8% stainless/poly.

Meh. Just get a CZ75 SAO in 9mm and you are way ahead of the game.
