Like the post says; 9mm. Not 38 super , 10mm and sure not: "only 1911 should be 45!"

The EDC X9 as long as money is not a factor.
Colt Gold Cup is now back and in 9mm along with the lightweight commander.
You could buy both and 5k rounds to feed them for the price of the EDC and still have money left over to have trigger jobs on the Colts

Dan Wesson Valor or STI Duty 1 would be a nice all around 1911 in 9mm. You didn’t mention if this is for self protection or range/competition. For range/competition I’d probably go with Lea Baer Premier II or STI DVC Classic.

There's a 1911 for every application and price range. Here would be my choices for the various types of 9mm 1911:

For an affordable range toy, Rock Island Armory full size.

For an heirloom or collector's piece, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk.

For a competition gun, an STI 2011, because why else would you be shooting a 9mm if not for higher capacity?

For compact carry, the Springfield EMP looks good to me.

For really compact carry, the Sig P938 looks good to me.

"Competition" covers a lot of territory. Springfields are generally considered good base guns for divisions that require single stack (USPSA/SC SS division for example). The OP really didn't state his requirements or intended use.

My wife's grandfather had been looking for an on roster 9mm 1911 full frame and when a Springfield target model became available he snagged it. At first there were some issues with the slide not fully coming forward to battery when firing. After a few mags in went away. I went to the shop where it was purchased from and the owner had another 9mm available, same thing where the slide wasn't coming forward freely every time. Must be some sort or finishing problem. Another thing was the target sights sit so high and have very sharp edges, it kept nicking and scratching my grandfathers forearm from his holster position, actually drawing blood. Also not cool. Seems to be that the Springfield 9mm 1911 has some fine finishing problems.

Also I wanted to mention that I purchased the 9mm EMP and its a fantastic carry gun. A real pleasure to shoot. you cant go wrong with an EMP if your looking for a carry gun.

I shoot an sTi Lawman in 9mm with cobra mags and it's a breeze. The only complaint I have is the finish on this gun wears so easily. I won't bother to holster anymore than I have to.
