    Ruger Charger

While checking www.bivwak.com I saw a Ruger Charger 22 handgun with an opening bid of $150 that I wanted to bid on until I checked CA regs --not approved so I told a friend in Pa about it & he bid the $150, no one else bid until the last couple of minutes $155 and got it.Last night they had 25 bags of 150gr Nosler E Tip 2nds with a beginning bid of $14,it peeked at $16.26 with free shipping,a friend got in on the bidding and got 4 50 round bags.I didn't need any as I have 9 boxes of 150gr E Tips from previous auctions.

Why is the charger not CA legal?

              Reciting from other threads.

It is not on the list of California Approved Firearms. (Ref: NRF)

It is an "Assault Weapon." (Ref: Magazine on a pistol does not go through the grip.)
I don't care what you call me, just don't call me late for dinner. Stupid Idiot will suffice, after all, it's only words.

You must define something before you can understand it.

But converted to a single shot it would be legal to import and buy.

so does the charger fall under the rule of its illegal to buy or sell in CA but not illegal to have and use?

A stock Charger is illegal to buy/sell in CA because it is an Assault Weapon.

A Charger modified to have a fixed 10-round mag is legal to possess in CA, but can't be purchased through a dealer, except in a cosignment/PPT transfer due to Roster issues.

A Charger modified into a single-shot handgun is legal to purchase through a dealer since it is Roster-exempt.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
