    Canik-would you get this one?

Hi all. I have the opportunity to get the new TP9SFx for $479 plus fees. I have read mostly good things, but have no experience with the brand. Would you do it?

I would. Good price. Good gun. I own several Caniks. They are all excellent firearms that are vastly underrated.

I have one. Kind of rough, but looks good LOL

There is a recall ("voluntary heavy duty upgrade") out on the trigger. It does the Sig P320 drop fire thing if you "abuse" it. Be sure the one you buy has already been upgraded. Century wants to charge me $60 for shipping to and from them. Lame.

I would love to get my hands on one, especially at that price. Wish they were on roster. I do have a Walther P99.

They're on my list of guns I'd like to get when I move to the US.

I'd probably get the base model or the compact "Elite". Most of my handguns have to be concealable, or they don't have much of a purpose.

Yup. That's the one. Odd that Century wants to charge you for shipping, but then again, you said it is a "voluntary" recall? Kinda like a TSB on a car....recommended, but not required?

I wonder what effect of the rework would have on the trigger feel?

I would use it purely as a range gun and home defense gun. Mount a light/laser and good to go with 21 rounds on tap.

I have dreamed of getting into competition, but realistically, I am not that good of a shooter. Fair, yes. Good, no.

I know i'd consider it for the price, but also compare it to a PPQ 5" especially if the rebate is going on still. PPQ's are definitely not rough.

I don't think your skill level should dissuade you from trying competition shooting. As long as you can use a holster and safely handle a gun, just go for the fun. I don't harbor any ideas about being the next Jerry Miculek, but I'm ok with that.

Static bench shooting becomes pretty boring and is a poor way of improving shooting skills beyond hitting a bullseye.

Most of what I've heard about the Caniks is positive. Seems the main negative is being made in Turkey, depending on your opinion.

I was hoping these would be down to $399 by the time I move to Free America. I will probably pick up a pair of these and the P-10c.

I hear ya. Just got out of Kali at the end of Sept. That came with a heavy penalty income-wise. Going for quality of life now, but need to count my pennies, so can't afford any mistakes!

They are good Turkish clones of the Walther P99 series.
