I respectfully disagree with your opinion on the trigger, but I’m a fan of DAO pistols and revolvers. There are worse triggers out there, even on modern guns - I still am bothered by my G17, and XD wasn’t a pleasant experience either (I miss the Ruger P90/94/95 series).

Apex upgrade does wonders. Yes the trigger is bad. If you notice Smith has a history of bad triggers on the poly guns. Remember the M&P gen 1?

It looks like the trigger and spring kit runs about $50-$60 total. Would I need anything else? He found the gun lightly used in the marketplace for $250 so another $50 is manageable lol.

I have the apex trigger kit and I like it. Be sure to get the spring kit along with the actual polymer trigger that Apex offers. I would also get the low profile loaded chamber indicator as well but its not necessary.

Apex parts will make the trigger feel decent. It still won't be great, but it will be way better than stock. Sometimes an inexpensive gun isn't that cheap when you factor in the cost of aftermarket parts that you have to put in it.

My older SW40V didn't have 2 straight coil sprigs, so I only removed the pig-tail coil spring

I also smoothed the sear face (on the striker and sear, both) with a fine cut ceramic stone, as well as the tip of the release bar and striker safety block.

I had the Apex spring kit (the $21 + shipping) on my SD9VE and I like it. remember that when install the spring kit, there is a pin that one way come in/out. I forget which one but if you interest on that pin then PM me.

Apex trigger kit makes a huge difference in pull weight and feel. Still a MUCH longer pull than a Glock, however. But drastically improved.

Years ago I owned the 40. It came with something like 9# trigger pull. What striker fire has this much pull?
I hated it, sold it.

MY SD9VE has a stock trigger pull of 8 lbs. Not too bad. It's dead reliable. And if it gets jacked, I'm only out 300. Good enough for home defense.
