Selling Handguns Limit

Just realized I've sold 6 handguns since January. Is there a legal limit of 5 or 6 or is 5 or 6 more of a general guideline?

It's the number of transactions not the number of firearms.

5 is the number for separate transactions.

You can sell as many as you want in one PPT.

Not much enforcement, but you may want to hold off on more sales.

There are a few exceptions like liquidating inheritances.

Calendar year:

handguns, less than six transactions per calendar year.

(2) For firearms other than handguns, occasional and without regularity.

Intrafamilial transfers also have a 5 per year limit, just an FYI if you ever run into that.

A few years ago, CA DOJ admitted that enforcement was lax but they would be working on a system to improve detection and enforcement.
