    Gunbroker question

Hi all. This might be a dumb question, but if can I buy an off roster gun on gunbroker and bring it to CA to a FFL? I was thinking about getting a H&K V9 for about $600.

    No you cannot.

There is a reason they go for $1000+ in CA, and it isn't because no one here knows how to use Gunbroker.

And you cannot import guns you acquire out of state unless you first ship them to a CA FFL for DROS. And the roster applies. It is a felony if you bring a handgun back to CA that you somehow get out of state. PC27585.

Federal laws requires you to transfer a handgun to yourself via an FFL in the state you are a resident.

State law prohibits an FFL from selling/transfering you a non roster handgun (hence only private party non roster transfers from one CA resident to another CA resident are allowed)

You would have to be a non resident of CA in the state of your drivers license residence to receive the handgun that is non roster.

Then you can move back to CA at some point in the future and register your handguns to CA once you have acquired a CA driver's license.

Then you can have your off roster handgun.

Or you can find a CA resident with one and buy it from him.

For years now Ive read and understood the off rooster. To read it makes no since as all the newer guns are more safe. All these years and California cant build, market this safe gun with one person magic powers

You are missing the point....California doesn't want you to have any guns therefore you have the roster and we lose more and more each year.

If only it were so easy to legally purchase off-roster hand guns!

I wonder how many Californians jacked up auctions in Gunbroker? Lots of sellers in Gunbroker don’t want to deal with California.

Before placing a bid on Gunbroker make sure the gun you’re bidding on is legal to own (semi-auto long gun) or on the roster (handguns). With rostered guns make sure the model number/code matches the actual roster list. For example, a model 10 S&W is not in the roster, but a 10-14 is.

No you haven't. They don't care anything about safe guns. They want you not to be able to buy any new guns. The current roster requirements might as well say the gun has to crap gold bricks overnight because they are just as impossible to meet.

Some people don't even read the fine print of the sale. Most sellers will not ship to California for any reason.

It really is an art to purchase firearms not sitting in the store of an FFL here in CA.

You need to find an FFL that is willing to work with the semantics of CA law, and you need to find a seller willing to ship to your FFL.

Every day that passes becomes closer and closer to making it more economically feasible to simply eat the costs of becoming an FFL and setting up the business requirements to meet those standards. Then you can purchase ammo, and own non roster firearms which you only sell to law enforcement, and occasionally use, or simply sell/ship out of state.
