Glock 29, 21lb recoil spring problem

Noticed the guide rod was stock out the muzzle end of the slide a bit more than usual today, so I decided to take a look at the guide rod assembly. It's a Glock Store 21lb recoil spring assembly. Probably no more than 300rds or so fired with this assembly so far.

What I found was that the end cap, which threads into the guide rod, appeared to have unscrewed a bit. So I tried screwing it in, and the whole assembly flew apart.

Upon inspection, it looks like the threads inside the guide rod are completely gone. It seems that the gun's recoil has slowly been demolishing the threads until finally, after about 300rds, it couldn't take any more.

For a $50 recoil spring assembly, it should be able to handle WAY more than 300rds. Right??

Anyone else experience this? Is there a better brand 21lb assembly to use?

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I use the wolff 21lb spring in my LTC 29. Nothing screwy going on there

Seriously, send an email to GlockStore, ATTN: Lenny Magill, and tell him the problem. Customer service will get it, but they will push it to Magill. You'll either get another one, or your money or a Glock Store BS spiel.

      Email is cheap.

Good thinking, thanks. I was just going to chuck it and try a different brand, but if they can resolve the problem then that's a better idea. Maybe they just didn't loctite mine enough or something. It was otherwise a great recoil assembly, I really liked it right up until today

That would lead to an interesting Customer Service Motto:
"You'll love it until it breaks."
