    Grip safety problem

While shooting a 3" Springfield EMP 9mm, I sometimes have a problem with the grip safety not being compressed enough. The pistol has a good beaver tail and built up bump on the grip safety, but it sometimes fits into a hollow in my palm. I sometimes rubber band the safety while at the range, but this is just a temporary fix.
Is there any adjustment on this, or could the safety be out of spec?
Are there any pads available to increase the height of the bump?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert on this, but I'm sure you could have a gunsmith modify the grip safety so that it pulls away from the trigger earlier, so you don't need to depress it as far.

Two things that helped me with a similar problem with my compact 1911. I changed the grip safety to one with a large "tactical bump". I also modified my grip by not letting my right thumb ride the thumb safety lever which was causing my palm to cup. My right thumb now rests below the safety lever, and the combination of these two fixes solved the problem.

A safety can be modded to make it more sensitive.

          Or, you could disable it.

Or, you could change your grip. <cheapest option

New beavertail is always an option.. As mentioned above, you might want to firstvtrt modifying your grip technique. If you do ride the thumb safety on top, it's possible you're working against the beavertail by pushing up on the beavertail with the webbing of your thumb/index finger

Zero dollar fix with a file. By filing the lower surface of the tang on the grip safety, you can reduce the travel required to clear the trigger shoe.

Bent the spring to reduce the tension.
