Glock 19 Ghost 3.3 connector install problem

So after watching a couple of YouTube videos, I thought it would be simple enough to do the install. The install went well until the part where you have to shave off the connector overtravel bar bit by bit.

I had shaven off about 1/8" and assembled the gun back together including the putting the slide back, but I found that the trigger wouldn't move at all. No problem, I thought, I just didn't shorten the overtravel bar enough.

The problem is trying to disassemble the SOB. To get the slide off, you have to pull the trigger, correct? Now the trigger is stuck and I can't take the slide off.

Any idea what I should do? To make matters worse, we're late to a dinner party at 5 pm. Drats!! Wish I can skip going to the party

The shaving part takes patience. It's very tedious. Don't expect it to be a 5 min job if you've never done one before. My first took 10 hours from start to finish. Granted, I was doing other stuff at the same time.

You didn't do your homework prior to attempting the install. You are suppose to get yourself a Glock armorer's slide cover, which allows you to press down on the cruciform with the punch to disengage the firing pin. Are you able to cycle the slide at all?

If you can pull the slide back at least 1/4 inch, you can then remove the back plate on the slide and remove all the internals, which should allow the slide to come off.

Thanks. I didn't realize it would take that much time. I started it just an hour before the party. So, moving the slide back and removing the firing pin and the other pin will release the slide? Will try to remove it tonight.

The slide moves back but I couldn't move it forward. Usually at this point, I would have to pull the trigger to let it release off the frame.

Yeah, I saw that armorers slide cover on the video but I didn't want to wait for it in the mail.

Every gun is different. Yours will be different. But, I had to remove pretty much all of the TCT tab on the Ghost 3.3 to get to the point where the trigger works, but no over-travel. What seems like a hundred disassembly, filing, and reassembly before that the trigger worked but would get progressively heavy with each dry fire. If you get there, that means you need to file more of the tab off. This is definitely not a mod for people with no patience or mechanical aptitude.

Wait for the armorer's plate. It will save time.

Much appreciated. Wish I had seen the video, but the other posters' help explained it well too. For the next project, I'll be sure to get the armorer's plate. For this one, I'm just a bit too anal to put it off tonight

If I'm still filing and reassemblying this thing by midnight, I'll throw in the towel and order the armorers plate LOL

OK, I gave up. I even ended up filing a notch where the overtravel tab was and it still wouldn't trigger. I polished the stock disconnector and put it back in. Works just as well.

This one is going back to Brownells or Ghost.

Well it did say it requires fitting. Get one of the drop in parts. I have the edge and it works perfectly.

I just avoid the ghost connectors altogether. I prefer the DOT/ATF connectors or the plain ol minus connector.

Yeah, got an OEM minus connector coming to me in the mail along with a few other parts.

I don't trust myself installing anything beyond "drop in" parts with a tool that involves "controlled explosions"
