    Shield in 380?

Anyone know of a pistol the size of the smith and wesson shield that shoots 380 that can be had in California. Trying to teach a recoil sensitive woman to shoot comfortably. Already have 22's but was looking for a NON pocket pistol in 380 that is low recoil and comfortable to hold. Any suggestions?

Already considering the SW Bodyguard in 380, was just looking for other options so she can choose what fits best in her hand.

I wouldn't call a Bersa a pocket pistol. I don't think of it's recoil being and issue. But read some people complain about it.

The Beretta 84/85 are larger, but I don't think they're on the roster.

Honestly, a Sig P238 may be a pocket gun, but the recoil is so minimal. Probably even less than the larger Bersa.

Hi Point CF-380. Inexpensive and on the roster https://www.sportsmansguide.com/prod...ound?a=1821445
          Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Glock 42 is an exceptional .380 pistol.

I don't have a direct size comparison, but have you looked at the Ruger LC380? http://ruger.com/products/lc380/models.html

                I have a S&W Bodyguard .380.
The recoil is pretty brisk and louder than my S&W 29-2 .44magnum.
Would not recommend to a new lady shooter. The recoil bites into the web of you hand when fired.

Smaller guns tend to have some snappy recoil due to less weight to absorb it....why not get a larger sized 9mm compact like a g19 or something in the 1911 in 9mm? What will be the purpose range toy/ personal protection at home?

We have the P232, the P238, and the G42. Depending on what kind of gun you're looking for (SA, DA/SA, or striker) they all fit the bill nicely. But guns of this size are going to be a little bit snappy, you just can't get around that. Newton's Law and all that happy stuff...

PPT a glock 42 unless you're into .38 special revolvers, which would probably be the easiest thing for someone to learn on IMO

another for G42. Even though it is off roster you can get it through PPT. The shield and G42 are extremely close in size. Almost identical.

I would start her off with a large revolver shooting 38 special. After she becomes proficient with that, you can move on to other guns with progressively more recoil - a larger metal framed 9mm, etc.

The only on roster 380 that is almost identical in size to the Shield is the Ruger LC380. Bersa Firestorm is similar size, but blowback so the recoil will probably be more.

The Hi point is significantly larger, the P238, Bodyguard and LCP are smaller.

If she has fired the Shield and it's too much, the LC380 is the only on roster choice I can think of. The 42 would work, but will cost at least double.
