Is a blued S&W Model 29 CA Legal?

    The DOJ website says:

    29-10 / Steel Revolver 6.5" .44 Magnum 5/18/2007
    29-8 / Steel Revolver 6.5" .44 Magnum 5/27/2007

But they don't make a "Steel" finish. Only a "Blue" finish. The DOJ website does list other guns with a Blue finish, so what gives?

    29s are blue
    629s are stainless

    Here's the 29-10

    And here is the 29-8

This is a 4" barrel though.

My Standard Catalog doesn't list the 29-8 but it seems strange to me that they would make one in Mountain Gun configuration with a 6" barrel.

I believe they are legal. I saw some new model 29's (anniversary one's) at Turners two days ago.

I have a 29-8. It's the same as the Anniversary gun, but with no gold medallion, standard m29 markings, and smooth Ahrends combat grips. It was never in the catalog, or officially made for sale as far as I can tell, but it was also somehow certified for CA.

I bought the gun from a fellow CG'er earlier this year, with 6 rounds fired. I can't remember where he got it, but he seemed to think that S&W did a small run of them as a "test run" for the Anniversary model, or maybe these were made special for a distributor. I have only put 100 rounds through it since I bought it, but man it's a sweet shooter!
