    Glock 19

    Today, an LGS told me that the only Glocks permitted for sale in California are Gen 3, but when I look at the DOJ Gun Roster site, it doesn't specify generation (see attached).

    Please advise.

    But at the very top of the roster, note it says this

    No Generation 4 Glock handguns have been approved as of: Wednesday, September 06, 2017
    Most dealers will process Gen 2 or 3, or even Gen 1 I guess. But it is clear that Gen 4 is a no-go. And everyone knows that. Some dealers may not want to handle earlier Gens, that is their prerogative.

    The roster began well after "gen 2", gen 4 is definitely not on roster.

    Process of elimination says only Gen 3 could have been tested/approved, dear Watson.
    There were/are other rostered guns that existed before the roster, such as Colt Python or Walther P1 - which was made starting in 1963 and is still listed on the roster even though it has not been made in 13 years. The Colt Python that just dropped off a year or two ago, was last made in 1989 before the roster list was a thing.

    So the era of the gun is not a perfect way to determine if it could be a roster gun. A lot of dealers will handle Gen 2 Glocks as roster guns.

      @AreWeFree & SkyHawk: Thanks, guys.

      I notice (now) that, at the top, it also says: "No Glock handguns made in the USA have been approved as of: Wednesday, September 06, 2017"

      Hmm.

          Are Austrian Glocks made and assembled in Austria, or are they made in Austria and assembled in the U.S.?

            Austrian Glocks are made entirely in Austria. They are the only ones roster approved. The USA made Glocks are not roster approved.
