Ruger's series of compact pistols. yay or nay?

does anyone own or have tried Rugers LCP, LCPII, LCP9s, LCP380?

i should say that i'm in Vegas and my intent is to find something compact, but functional, and actually able to stop a baddie.....and ultimately i'm going to apply for a CCW. yeah, i should probably post in NevadaShooters.com but i'm so used to calguns since i posted here for 15 years i think and have only been in LV for2 years....but...i'm still curios if anyone has hands on experience with these. i've read good reviews on gun magazines but reviews they seems like they would give a donkey turd a good review.

i like that they ave striker-fire but i saw a still frame of i think a .40 and it looked dangerous for that size of pistol, and the sub $300 price tag makes me wonder about quality.

Honestly they're great guns. Having owned and carried both the LCP and LC9, I'd recommend them. They were both inexpensive and reliable. They were relatively easy to shoot.

The LCPs I've handled have always had nicer triggers than the S&W bodyguards and have felt better made than the Keltec P3ATs. The primary complaint about the LC9 was the heavy DA and longer reset (fine if you are used to revolvers, not so much if you're used to striker fired guns), with the LC9S, that problem was supposed to be solved.

The improvements made in the LCP II and the LC9S are both worth looking at. The only caveat I believe for the LC9 is that it can't be fed a steady diet of +P ammo according to the manual.

Other than that, buy em and use the money saved to get more ammo and practice.

Another thing you can look into is the S&W shield as it's approximately the same size of the LC9S and can handle a steady diet of +P ammo. And it's currently got the $75 rebate going on.

Or the Springfield XDS, they're also similar in size andi believe that they may qualify for the gear up promotion for the holster and spare mags.

Many ranges have them for rent, measure twice, cut once.

I have the LC9s but like DNA said, the reset is very long. I tend to carry the Shield for CCW for some reason, just because I have taken it to the range more often.

Can you get CCW in Clark Co. now? I thought your sheriff is an anti-gun Democrat?

I'd buy a LCP II if they were on roster, with its improved trigger.

Since you are out of state, I'd look into the LCP II. If you aren't dead set on a ruger, the sig p238 is a sweet gun. It is slightly larger than an LCP, but it has a Great trigger and is very accurate.

If I could acquire the revolver, I would buy it. I don't agree with their past company politics, but they make a good product

Second an LCP (gen 2) or an LCP II. Very easy to carry and reliable. Load it with the proper .380 defensive ammo and you're good to go for the 'Strip.

I want to try out either the Ruger LCP or LCP II as a pocketgun replacement for my Kel-Tec P-32.

I have an LCPII and its a fantastic little pistol. IMO the trigger was greatly improved from my previous LCP. The LCP 1 had a kick back donkey kick to my finger that would feel like a bone bruise without an actual mark, very odd and I didn't care for it and some also experienced it and others loved it.

the LCP II is my last minute pocket holster take the dog out or wearing lighter clothes going to the gym.

I can im 6'3" 205 and can shoot it at the range for 200rds and not have it bug me.

Really is a nice little firearm. I enjoy mine and would recommend the LCPII no hesitation.

The Ruger LC380 is one quiet winner.
It's small, and fits in a pocket.
The more you shoot it, the more you'll be pleased.
It's a big BIG contender for CCW!
                        It's reliable.
I like it better than the Sig P238 or 938, but there's nothing wrong with those if you like carrying locked and cocked....I, personally, like DAO for CCW.
But that's why there are choices...

i'm not set on it........just open to it as well as other suggestions.

somthing reliable, good quality, big enough caliber to stop mr. baddie if he should ever appear. i was looking at the SW shield and the springfield xds......and the kimber micro.

                            my concerns.....
9mm keeps going.....and going.....and going. i wouldn't want to accidentally hit an innocent person b/c of this
i'm not sure if .380 has enough stopping power, but then again i've never shot it.
i'm really an M1-garand fanatic.....have 12..........so this will be my first handgun

NV residents have been able to obtain CCW permits in Clark County since 1995 and non-residents of NV have been able to obtain CCW permits in Clark County since 2001.

Although the Clark County Sheriff may be an anti-gun democrat (all the Sheriffs been that way for several decades), the Sheriff is still bound by NV State laws. Which is why the Sheriff's political leanings have no affect on the *LVMPD's ability to issue CCW permits.

In addition, over the last decade, the NV legislature has been incremental chipping away at all of the Clark County anti-gun ordinances. Which as of 2015, has technically voided all of them and, since 2008, the ACLU of NV has been pressuring LE agencies in Clark County to cease enforcement of all them.

*Back in 1973, the Clark County Sheriff Department and the Las Vegas Police Department merged and formed the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). This is why the Clark County Sheriff is in charge of the LVMPD and LVMPD officers patrol/enforce everywhere in Clark County.
