Nicely done. I am thinking of sending mine out for either ion bond or blacknitride finish. Is yours carbon or stainless? I kind of like it as is which is why I am asking.

That thing is mean looking. Tungsten Cerakote and stainless controls FTW.

4140 CS.. wish I could leave it as is, but I don't want to worry about rust. I would love IB or BN. But the finish cost is just so much. Although the voice in my head says, "You spent this much $ already, why not do it right?!"

              Still debating....

Indeed, I'd you are happy with what you built you may as well finish in something worthy... not to say cerakote is not good, but other finishes may be more long lasting.

I just got a gun back with black nitride finish, and it's ugly as sin, but really is a strong finish. OP, nice handy work, I iwsh I had the time and ability to do the same, I have several frames at home waiting to be built.

The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

Absolutely! Although, I do like the color scheme that it is right now. I had originally wanted to black it out, but now That I see it in the Blasted finish, I like it better. I have too many black guns as it is.

And thanks for the kind words MV, I used a few of your videos for tips and tricks. I wish I had the patience to record my journies. I can't even remember to take before and after pics half the time

I'll post more detailed pics of blending after I get it coated

Who did the finish, and do you have pics?

Very impressive. I've always wanted to make my own custom 1911; on govt and one commander, maybe one to hand down to son. I'll have to wait till I have a shop and lots more money & time.

You don't even need a shop, honestly. Fortunately, I am a supervisor of a machine shop, so I have access to many machines and finishing equipment. With the advancement of jigs and tools now, such as the offerings from Matrix, anyone can finish one of these. The biggest thing, is patience. Take little material at a time.
