Which is a better plinking 22LR pistol?

    ATI GSG 1911 $280
    or
    Walther P22 $300

I don't want to spend more than $350 including tax and dros.

I just want something that's dirt cheap to shoot. But reliable at the same time.

Both not so accurate than BuckMark or revolvers (Ruger Single Ten, S&W 617)
Save several bucks and go for
    Browning Buck Mark Camper UFX

P22 is hot garbage. Read the reviews. Occasionally someone lucks out and gets a decent one but most wont cycle anything other then CCI mini mags without modifications. Yes, I own one. It's literally the only gun I regret buying.

Step up a bit and get a Buckmark.

IF you are trying to stay under $350 including tax and DROS you only have the two options you listed. Neither is a great choice and you will regret limiting yourself to those two. Mark my words.

Buckmark or Ruger 22-45 or MK series are the best choices for a first .22lr semi auto handgun.

Buckmark for sure. Accurate and reliable. Many models to choose from with some in your price range.

Between those two, I would go with the P22.

I really like my GSG 1911. Relatively inexpensive, shoots anything I've put through it (so far), and it has controls like a 1911 for training purposes (thumb safety, etc.) if you also shoot a 1911 or someone wants to learn to shoot a 1911.

Kids get a kick out of thinking they're shooting a 1911-like handgun and they can handle the recoil since it's only .22.

Certainly the others mentioned above are more accurate, better manufactured, etc. which is why they cost more.

S&W 22A-1 is still on roster. Not expensive.

I have 2 Buckmarks and they are the best bang for the buck. They will keep running as long as you give them some TLC every now and then.

I know it's not one of the pistols you asked about, but I have to vote Buckmark too. Browning is offering a $50 rebate now, so your $350 budget should be doable with a little bargain shopping. I just picked up my second Buckmark and with the rebate it was $372 including tax and dros. I specifically wanted a stainless UFX with rear cocking serrations though. There were other models that would have been cheaper.

Sorry to not answer your question but if you can find a Smith and Wesson Model 41 or a High Standard Victor, these would be the better 22 LR plinkers. You will never need to look at another 22LR pistol. But if these are out of your price range, then I recommend a Browning Buckmark.

If you have a CZ 75 pistol, you can also consider the CZ Kadet II conversion kit.

                              Another Buckmark vote here.
