    Who needs a Legion anyway...

I have been eyeballing the P226 and P229 Legion for a bit now and just can't come to grips with the ~$2000 price to get one in California. So, I did the next best thing.

I took my good old P226 Nitron and upgraded it. I installed an SRT kit, swapped out the 21# mainspring for an 18# one, replaced factory grips with Hogue G10 Piranha grips and put a Dawson FO front sight on. With all of the work I did, I love this gun as much as I would the Legion. It's a thing of beauty and shoots like a dream.

18# Mainspring is such a great upgrade for the Sig P226, makes a huge difference considering it's only a couple bucks and install is very easy!

Grayguns also sells the Legion Trigger kit on their website for $300+. I'm not a trigger snob but I definitely appreciate a nice trigger, The Legion trigger is smoother, breaks way cleaner and isn't as sloppy with the takeup compared to the stock P226 trigger.

Is it worth $300+? I'd say HELL THE F*** NO, save your money for ammo, but I'll let you be the judge on that one. Then again, I'm probably the only one who feels the SRT is highly overrated and isn't even used to it's full advantage, if even used at all, by most average shooters. These are my opinions of course YMMV.

Definitely, can't deny the good looks of the Legion though.

I've been debating if I want to change to a #18 MS myself, I already have a P-SAIT trigger and SRT kit installed my MK25. The trigger isn't 100% perfect but more than enough for me to get good consistent groups at 25 yards.

Chrome bones is partially correct and partially incorrrect about upgrading the trigger. It all depends on what you plan on using the gun for to take advantage of a trigger upgrade.

If you plan on using it for competition or self defense than I'd say upgrading the trigger is worth it. The short reset or legion trigger will give you those split seconds, faster, and tighter shots. Wether to win a competition or land quick follow up accurate shots is were counts, in that split second. A lot can happen in those split seconds.

If your gonna slow fire at a indoor range in a booth than I would just use the money to buy more ammo and have fun.

Do you get any light strikes with 18 lb main spring?

Don't forget the low profile (P224) slide stop lever and decocker. They make a big difference.

I know how you feel. I am in the market for a new 9mm, and shopped around without considering the roster first. Now I really want a p229 Leigon.

My plan is to go with the p229 enhanced elite (CA version) and upgrade the grips from e2 to G10. I already ordered the g10 grips from sig.

Will end up looking like this:

None at all. The 21# factory spring is excessive. Many use a 17# spring and report no light strikes. I went with an 18# spring to be sure. The DA is so much better now and it seems to have lightened the SA as well.

I think I put a 19 lb spring in my P6. The original 26 lb spring was ridiculous.

                            My P226 now wears E2 grip and I don't think there's a reduced power spring for E2.

Have the Beaver Tail reshaped to Legion length and you got yourself an instant Legion.
