*UPDATE PICS* glock question

alright i have a glock 19c but i notice both my 10rd mags actually touch the slide (when locked back) and has the visual scratch/rub/dent marks on them ie clearance issue. so basically the slide is cutting into my mags. but it doesnt do it with my co workers 15round prebans. what the hell is that all about

i think i know what you're referring to but unless you describe with more detail where the nicks are (or better yet, post a picture of it) then Im inclined to say it's perfectly normal..

He's likely referring to the slide peening that you find on the rails (im taking a guess)

It's not from the magazine lips hitting it.. think about it- magazine vs slide? and the slide is the one that gets nicked? IRC, the nicks you find occur due to the slide flexing under recoil and hitting the barrel as it unlocks from battery.

I dont know if this is what is ailing the OP's G19, but Im guessing that's what he's referring to..

Can you field strip your gun, and maybe look and see on the slide where it is making contact? Definitely isn't normal wear. Perhaps give Glock a call and have them help you out. They have top notch customer service.

It's contacting the plastic cover for the magazines, not the metal body.

No issue, unless you're experiencing failures.

all my 9mm mags have those marks and they all function perfectly. My competition mags have more wear right there than my others but they work just like they did when new. I'm not sure whats causing the wear right there.

Those marks are NOT what I had in mind when I posted my previous comments. I'm not quite sure of how significant this will be over the years, but I'm inclined to agree with leelaw in that it's just the outer portion of the magazine body and likely to be superficial.

For now, I would limit magazine 'use' to just one mag. See if something 'catastrophic' happens to this. If it does, you're only out 1 magazine. I would also do some research and contact Glock directly to discuss this. They have very very good customer support and should be able to help you out.

The marks wouldnt stop me from shooting it at all. If you're not experiencing any failures or jams then I see no reason to stop shooting.

I'll be d*mned. I just looked at five of mags and they all have those marks to one degree or another. Weird thing is that one of my original mags has less wear than most of my newer mags (they're all 10 rounders).

Never had a problem with them.
