    Selling a Handgun

Hey I just got out the military and moved back home to California. I have a few off roster handguns I want to sell to pay some bills. I know I need to sell these private party through a FFL dealer but do I need a California license? Mine is still currently Colorado. Thank you.

Ought to rethink that one. Are the laws of this state what you signed up to die for?

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

As mentioned, yes you need a CA ID (I once heard that a DMV printout on their letterhead showing your address was acceptable for proof of address, but not sure if that only worked in conjunction with a CA ID...

              Also,
If you dont want to be considered a dealer in CA, you have to keep your handgun transactions under 6 a year. (Not 6 guns, but 6 transactions. you can sell one guy 10 guns during one transaction)

just throwing that out there in case you stockpiled 10 or 12 Ruger Mark IV's before moving into the state....

No more than 5 handgun transactions a year.
However, you can transfer multiple handguns during one transaction.

Long guns can not be frequent.

              Penal Code 12070
              (a) No person shall sell, lease, or transfer firearms unless he or she has been issued a license pursuant to Section 12071. Any person violating this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
              (b) Subdivision (a) does not include any of the following:
              (4) The infrequent sale, lease, or transfer of firearms.
(c)(1) As used in this section, "infrequent" means:
              (A) For pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person, less than six transactions per calendar year. For this purpose, "transaction" means a single sale, lease, or transfer of any number of pistols, revolvers, or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person.
              (B) For firearms other than pistols, revolvers, or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person, occasional and without regularity.

The rule is register or sell. You didn't quote the law but DOJ's summary. PC 27560
                  (a) Within 60 days of bringing a handgun, and commencing
January 1, 2014, any firearm, into this state, a personal firearm
importer shall do one of the following:
                  (1) Forward by prepaid mail or deliver in person to the
Department of Justice, a report prescribed by the department
including information concerning that individual and a
description of the firearm in question.
                  (2) Sell or transfer the firearm in accordance with the
provisions of Section 27545 or in accordance with the provisions
of an exemption from Section 27545.
                  (3) Sell or transfer the firearm to a dealer licensed pursuant
to Sections 26700 to 26915, inclusive.
                  (4) Sell or transfer the firearm to a sheriff or police
                  department.
And yes, a seller in a PPT needs CA Driver License or CA ID card.

Why would you want to come to an environment as hostile as Iraq or Libya?

Rethink about doing 20 years or consider doing the Reserves/Guard. I wish I did. The grass is greener thing does not come true.
