    Not impressed by 92FS

Well I bought a Beretta 92FS based on the overwhelming positive reviews... After putting 100 rounds through it, I have to say, I'm not very impressed. Not sure if it's the trigger, the bulky grip, or what it is. My question is at what point do you give up and sell a gun. Should I try some replacement parts and grips? Or chalk it up and sell it?

I'm thinking if I keep it, trying out a Wilson Combat overhaul, but I'm concerned I still may not like it. Maybe it's just being spoiled by other triggers (1911, CGW CZ, Sig SRT, etc.)

    ***UPDATE 8/12/17***

Put in the new Wilson Combat Upgrades: Short Reach Trigger, Reduced Power Trigger Control Unit, Delux Hammer, Trigger Bar, 13# Hammer spring, and Ultra Thin Grips..

What a difference! I actually like the gun now. Trigger pull was dramatically decreased! I also polished the trigger faces lightly to smooth everything out. The grips matched with the short reach trigger brought the trigger back close to .125" or 1/8". I haven't got to shoot it as I just assembled everything this morning. Having never worked on a Beretta, I was pleasantly surprised at the ease. 30 minutes total from start to finish on this job. I'll next be doing the G-conversion along with a single sided safety and possibly sending it to Wilson for the fiber optic front sight and Black U rear.

Overall, I'm now happy with my purchase.

Nothing wrong with admitting it's not for you. Sell it and move on.

This is exactly how I felt about the Glock 34. Everyone raves about Glocks, but I just couldn't make myself like it. I have two highly customized 92s, but I also love my stock 92s way more than that G34. We're all different, shoot what you like.
At least you can say you gave it a good try. I wouldn't sink any money into it without trying a finished product. If you were near me I'd let you try mine out.

Well, if it helps, I am not a fan of the Beretta 92 in any way but I have a Wilson Combat 45 that is almost 35 years old and it is still flawless other than being beat up pretty bad.

It is always a function of what you are willing to pay.

Go through a course with it
If you still don't like it in the end put it in back of the safe

Sell it or keep it as a collector piece (not in the true terms) the 92fs is such a classic. When I was a kid, if I imagined a pistol it was a Beretta 92

I have a M9 just for that reason, I don't really shoot it. But when I am 85 years old and bored I can pull her out and reminisce.

I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands, I'll even pay you a small token amount for the help.

                    I rented a Beretta 92FS once. I can't say I was impressed. Meh.

                      Trade for a Browning Hi-Power.

You will wonder why you went with the 92 or 1911.

If it were me, I would keep it and try some WC upgrades to try to resolve the aspects of it that you don't like, unless there's an inherent design element that you just don't like (you mentioned the bulky grip, that's a bit hard to change).

I love, love , love my 92, but different strokes for different folks, if there was one pistol that was perfect for everyone then our gun stores shelves would be a lot smaller.

Anyways, it's just a tool, and not a rare one, so if you truly don't like it then don't keep it - BUT, if it were me, I'd give it an opportunity to redeem itself.

Also, since the 92 is such a classic example of a "wonder 9" pistol, you might consider hanging on to it as a loaner for when you take new shooters to the range. Honestly, other people probably shoot my 92 more than I do, and for that reason alone I would keep it even if I didn't like it. Just my 2 cents.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

In my opinion, it is one of the best looking pistols out there. However it is bulky as you said. If you don't need the money I say you keep it. It is a good gun to show new shooters because its been in lots of movies and you can tell them the history behind it.

It's not a big deal if it doesn't work for you. That's what this gun ownership thing is all about. It's about trying many different platforms to see what works best for you. The worst thing that's going to happen is you're going to gain some experience.

Out of curioustity, what model is it exactly? Brigadier or standard? Blued or inox?

Also, check out the G-lever upgrade for $55. It's worth every penny. The biggest complaint about the FS is the stupid slide safety, and the G-lever solves that, no more accidentally putting the pistol on Safe when you rack it.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.
