I would go to the bookstore and look up in Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values to get some baseline and then I would look on online auctions like Gunbroker.com and do some searches.

The value of these fluctuates based on demand, but the fact that it's nickel AND you have the original box and tools is a plus for a collector.

Pictures are fuzzy and difficult to determine condtion. But I would think it's worth Colt Python territory. ~$1200 maybe abit more

        $500 guess

According to SCSW third edition, the gun was manufactured in 1977-78 according to the serial number. The value shown is typically $750 ANIB and $500 excellent. Yours looks to be in excellent condition.

Some barrel lengths on these fetch a premium, such as the 3.5 inch and 5 inch. I see that yours is a 5 inch, and you say you have the original box and tools. So I would guess that you might get at least $600 from someone who likes the nickel finish.

I think $750 would be a good starting point

Yep - and if the presentation box liner still has the blue flocking, you'll be surprised what kind of premium that can bring.

I let a nickel 6" 27-2 slip away at Christmas for ~$650, and an 8 3/8" nickel 27-2 went for $750 or so at Contra Costa Collectibles a while back.

A good friend of mine purchased a 5" nickel 27-2 in a presentation case at Guns, Fishing ,and other stuff in Vacaville a year ago for $650.00. I know because I told him about it. I wish I had bought it myself.

I paid 600 for a NIB 27-2 about two years ago with box tools minus flocking lol. If i had to buy another one i would be willing to go about 750-800, it depends on how much you want it and are willing to pay, I personally cant see why people pay $1200+ for pythons but if you want one bad enough i guess youll pay it.

                    My honest opinion:
$700 if all the components are in pristine condition.
                    $650 if it looks used.
$550 if it looks used a lot.

What CenterX said. It's all in the condition! When I see 27s over $1000 I walk away. Decent ones are out there for a good price but the search may be long.

Here are few more pictures of the Mod 27 and the display case. There is some wear and black mark where the hammer rest on in the case. Any more comments are welcome. Thanks

I am thinking offering him $550 or $600. Is that a fair price for this Mode
27-2 or should it be a little higher? Please let me know.
