Glock 20sf: Initial Impressions

Had a G20sf. Sold it and bought a G29.....nonSF since it had night sights. Added the 21lb stainless rod and spring and a KKM 4.5 inch black nitride barrel. Really fun to shoot and can be CCWd if I decide to replace one of the others on my permit. Initially wasn't a Glock fan either; but I now have the G29, G43, G19, and just drossed a G26 OD green. Something about their Teutonic utilitarianism appeals to me.Comment

The 10mm was designed from the get go as a "Light Magnum" cartridge. The first ammo that came out was the same pressure of the underwood ammo. When Colt Deltas started cracking frames, and the FBI decided not to use the 10mm(as they had planned) due to agents complaints about recoil from the S&Ws, manufactures started to detune 10mm factory loads. And also the .40 S&W was created for an intermediate round, which the FBI did use for a while.
So actually, the typical target/practice even defensive ammo is more like comparing .44 Mag "Combat Loads", which are quite a bit less powerful than .44 Mag hunting loads.
It isn't so much that the Underwood et al loads are +P, but that the average loads have been reduced over the years to just slightly more velocity than .40 S&W.Comment

Why do people say things of this nature any firearm will give some damage when shot in doors . Dosnt matter what it is . Some sort of ear protection should he part of your home defense package .
I prefer electronic ear muffs . One they give you super hearing and two they protect if shots fired .
Back on topic . I love my Glock 20 sf .Last edited by dozer wright; 08-02-2017, 6:09 AM.Comment

I love my g20sf. I need to reload some more XTPs for it. Unfortunately I shoot my brothers and cousins G29 and G29sf just about as good as my g20 and I like the smaller package and concealment while fishing etc better. Oh well both great guns.Comment

Glock 20sf: Initial Impressions
I was wondering when you'd chime in BP [emoji38]
I don't know if it's "all I'll ever need". It fills a niche. I still prefer my Sigs, 1911's, revolvers etc for various other reasons. Which btw are all simple, effective and reliable [emoji6]Last edited by EMR; 08-02-2017, 11:11 AM.Comment

Underwood heavy 10mm with heavier spring turned hat gun into perfect camping/backpacking weapon. For regular shooting at the range 9mm is perfect. If you own a 10mm I honestly don't see a point blasting it at the range for fun. It's expensive. By all means train with it but a 10mm for backwoods should be loaded with heavy 10mm ammo in my opinionComment

I quit with the heavy rounds for woods / boat duty . Underwood Extreme Penetrators is where it's at . Watch the youtube videos on it .
