went to the guns fishing and more range today. they had a 27-2 on consignment. lock up was good, but there was quite a bit of holster wear on the muzzle. I think 1k is high, but I thought id put it out there.

S&W 27-2, 4" on consignment

But, but, but, it's off roster and it's rare.
That's a nice model. Large frame 357. Probably has a smooth trigger. Bet it saw more time in a holster than in use. That is a tad on the high side but consignment guns are that way because the ffl needs to make money and it does make it easier to sell for the owner. Takes the hassle out of posting and meeting. Maybe make them an offer. Remember, the price is set based upon how much the owner wants. Maybe the owner is flexible.NRA Life Member since 1990
They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

The S&W 27-2 above, is a rare bird with a 3.5" barrel. You don't see them for sale very often.
Being it's already in CA sure cuts down on the expense of importing it!
It has the target grips, but from the angle of the pic, can't tell if it has the target hammer & trigger?Last edited by GMG; 07-31-2017, 7:34 PM.sigpic

Actually, the 3 1/2" barrels are the most common of the short barreled M27's. the rarest are the 4 inchers, made only for a couple of years near the end of the -2 run before they stopped pinning barrels and recessing cylinders.MLC member.

This is true, and even though the 4" and then probably 5" are the least common, the 3.5" has been bring the most $$$ for over a decade.www.culinagrips.com

If you are dude who just has to shoot a boat-load of real .357 Magnalum on a regular basis then this is the gun for you.
I'd love to do a side by side quality inspection with that particular $1,0000 M27 with one of the examples the performance center is pumping out for twice the money.Comment

From 1979 to the end of the dash-two in 1981, some M27-2s were assembled without recessed chambers and / or pinned barrels. S&W used dash-three parts as substitutes but the frames carry dash-two marks.
I'd say the price would be reasonable, but still on the high side, if it were P&R'd.
As a later gun, price to me is definitely higher than I'd pay by $200-300. But as posted, go in low. I'd offer $850 and the least the ffl and seller could do is counter.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
