I know there illegal in CA but If i destroy the threads on a threaded barrel is it safe to own in CA? Technically it wouldn't be a threaded barrel anymore, Right?

      Permanently attach...

The Custom Thread Protector keeps your threaded barrel safe from damage and dust, while giving your Glock handgun a distinctive style, available at GlockStore.com

Threaded barrels are not illegal to posses. They are illegal only if installed on a pistol. If installed the pistol would then be considered an AW.

Not worth the hassle in my opinion. Keep looking for that barrel he needs or abandon the idea.

It is not illegal to ship or possess a threaded barrel.

(at least this is my understanding........)
