That is a Reverse Plug, usually for bull barreled 1911's. You have a barrel bushing type set up. You need a different plug.
Do yourself a favor and look the EGW website, they have many good options and make excellent products. But any brand spring plug will work...Wilson Combat, S&W, Ed Brown, Kimber, Etc. Just buy one you like the look of. I buy a lot from Midway.com but there are other websites as well, Brownell's come to mind.
If the description mentions a bull barrel, then it is the WRONG one/part.

Reverse plugs are retained (prevented from moving forward) by a recessed area in the slide. Standard type spring plugs are retained by the barrel bushing.

On a side note I have switched all my 1911 guns to standard "government" short guide rods and standard spring pugs. Full length guide rods add little to nothing function or durability wise, and are a pain to install and take out.

If you're using a Full Length guide rod..
This is a Stainless recoil spring plug for all Kimber 5-inch 1911's with Kimber full length guide rod.

Or if you're using a standard guide rod.. But it's OOS
This is a black Mil-spec recoil spring plug for all full-size 5-inch 1911's with traditional short guide rods.
