    Glock caliber change

So besides a conversion barrel, do I need to change anything else when changing a .40 to a 9mm? I thought I read once I would need to swap out the extractor.

Most conversion barrels are "drop in" therefore, no need to change the innards. But don't forget the G17 magazine.

Note: when modifying any pistol, reliability will be challenged. And stay away from cheap barrels like Lone Wolf Dist.

So can all .40 glocks be made to shoot 9mm with the right conversion?

I know it's not a conversion barrel but I have a Lone Wolf barrel in my glock 17 and it runs great. The reliability is as good as the stock barrel. Accuracy is as good or better than the stock barrel and I can shoot all my lead reloads worry free. Mark

I'm not sure about glocks, but you may need to replace the recoil spring as well. .40 cal has a lot more recoil than a 9mm, so it might need stronger springs to avoid battering the frame.

            Other way around.

As a previous owner of a Glock 22 with a 9mm conversion barrel, I will make one recommendation. Do not use Wolf ammo in the conversion barrel. It will gum it up. I'm not knocking Wolf ammo in general, I have lot's of it. The poly coating melts and gums up the conversion barrel. The .40 worked great in the stock barrel. You MIGHT want to get the correct recoil spring and rod for the 9mm because the .40 is heavier, but it will work without it.
            The following statement is true.
            The preceding statement was false.

The Glock OEM recoil springs are the same for the G17,G22, G34, G35.. People have the misconception that they're different when they're actually the same. I'll go out on a limb and say this is because the overall mass of the slide has been engineered with this interchangability in mind. People downplay the design merits behind the glock design, but it really is a wonderful piece of engineering once you start examining it.

If you're using factory ammo, just stick with the OEM recoil spring for now. You can tailor the spring weight depending on how snappy or mushy it feels.

I will say I had issues with my conversion setup using a lonewolf barrel. I loved it when it worked, but reliability wasn't it's strong suit. I switched out extractors, extractor spring, ejector, and even tinkered with various recoil spring weights- it still managed to choke on reloads and factory ammo.. YMMV of course. I was using a G35 as the base gun. If you do a search, you'll see that success is hit/miss it when converting calibers. I will say the LW barrel I received was insanely accurate. The only drawback was that it had a shallow/tight chamber. I had to reduce the OAL on my reloads. Factory ball ammo worked fine, but you might wanna be mindful of it is all.

              All the same, good luck.

I have LWD 40-9 conversion barrel in my G22. Just drop in and use 9mm (G17) mag. No part swap though I have hear some did. Only down side I experience is the new barrel is not as "forgiving" as Glock stock barrel. For G22 stock, I haven't yet find ammo that won't run in my G22 (miwall reload, wolf, cci, pmc, Blazer Brass/alum, WWB, Rem...etc. But with conversion barrel I had experience 2 FTE with wolf military classic.

All you need is the conversion barrel and the proper magazine for the conversion caliber.

I've thought about getting a Barsto .357 sig barrel for my 35.

Anybody with expereince want to chime in?
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.
