Picked up an 85FS a couple months ago - what a beautiful gun. The problem I am having is with the hammer. When cocked, I have no problem racking the slide (unlike many other comments I have read). The issue for me is the hammer is very difficult to cock.
First off, the hammer is very short, so getting a purchase with the thumb is very difficult. Second, the spring seems to be VERY stiff. Once cocked though, the slide racks very smooth.
Anybody ever replaced the hammer with one that sits a little higher, or replaced the hammer spring with one that's not so stiff? I realize too light and I'll have light strikes, but there has to be some middle ground.
