Best place to repair blemish/scratches on 1911

I'm a bit of an OCD when it comes to my firearms and I love to keep mine in the best shape possible. I have a 1911 with some noticeable scratch marks on the rear slide in between the serrations. Is there a place you guys recommend I go take my firearm to have it refurnish? THanks Calgunners and Happy 4th of July

Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

Do you want it repaired or completely refinished?

If you just want it touched up, get a Birchwood Casey black touchup pen. They come in gloss or flat. Neither will be perfect to match the Armorykote. I would try the gloss first on the TRP, it is a darker black. You can dispense some on a paper plate then use a toothpick dipped in it for very fine scratches.

I have also personally used the flat to touch up a TRP.

It all depends on the type of finish you want. And if you refinish the slide, it probably wont match the frame perfectly so your OCD may kick in to high gear.

So you either plan for a slide/frame contrast right from the get go, or you also have your frame and small controls refinished too. So you could be opening up a can of worms...

Or send the slide back to Springfield for refinish with Armorykote again. But it isn't a very durable finish IMO.

I'd suggest shooting heck out of it until it gets more wear and refinish it then. IMO I'd have SACS perform the refinishing just to keep it OEM finished.

Just buy a second one to be a safe queen and then shoot the hell of of the first one and enjoy it knowing you have one BNIB in the safe.

If I decide to shoot the snot out of it and in the future have it restored. You guys recommend cerakote over the armorykote?

VG247 How much did it cost you to have it refinish at SACS?
