    Question about approved handguns

If a handgun was approved previously for sale in California but is not on the approved list now does that mean I cannot legally obtain it from out of state and transfer it to an FFL?
I was checking the de-certified list and did not see the pistol there.

The pistol I was inquiring about is the Star Firestar series.

I understand that these are no longer imported.
    Any information is appreciated

    -thanks

If it's not on the list now it can't be imported or sold by FFL. The fact that at some time it may have been on the approved list is irrelevant.

      As Inoxmark stated.

The only way is to get it via private party transfer. You need to find someone in CA that has one and is willing to transfer it over to you via private party transfer.

          Dealers

I was always curious about this. If a gunshop has a model that has fallen off the list currently in inventory, does that mean they are not allowed to sell it? What is their recourse if not, can they sell it to an out of state FFL, or do they eat the cost of the pretty new paperweight?

They can sell it out of state or keep it for a LEO sale.

Or they have to make sure its older than 50 yrs. Sacramento Armory occationally will have S&W and Colt revolvers that are definitely not on the list but because they are now C&R status they can sell it out of their shop. You'll be surprised at the condition of some of these older wheelguns, you wouldn't think they were made in the 40's and 50's.
