Walther PPQ vs G19 Gen3 two great 4in 9mm's HELP!

Ok, so the only 2 handguns I currently own are the Walther PPQ and glock 19 Gen 3. I'm going to sell one of them, but can't decide which. My uses are HD and range. I am interested in getting into competition.

    Walther pro's
    -more comfortable grip
-better ergos: I don't have to shift my grip to fully depress the mag release. The slide stop works very well. Even though I ride the slide release with my thumb I always get a lock back on empty mag.
    -Trigger more comfortable
    -esthetically pleasing

    Con's
-Trigger is a bit light. I get an unintended double tap every 3 mags or so.

    G19
    Pro's:
    -don't get double taps
-shoot it just as well as the Walther

    Con's:
-get slide kick back on empty about 50% or time only
-trigger not as comfy because of pertruding safety dingus
-have to adjust grip slight to release mag

What would you guys do? Should I train around my Glock riding the slide stop issue? I feel like I shouldn't have to...

Will the unintentional double taps get better if I train more with the Walther (only taken it out to the range twice)? Seem like a safety issue for HD...

    Thanks

What are you looking to pick up and for what type of competition? Both of those are guns I own and I'd say sell the Glock as you can easily pick one up anytime. The PPQ is a bit tougher to aquire in our lovely state as you know. That's what I'd do if I absolutely had to sell one but as the post above I vote keep them both and save for your next one or put it on layaway.

Sell the G19 unless you have done some serious upgrades to it, I mean it's not that hard to come by.

I would keep the G19 as a bedside gun and range gun, compete with the ppq. Train through double taps and work on trigger control. PPQ is considered one of the best stock trigger until the CZ P10c unseated it.

LOL on the P10c trigger comment. Good one!

That's true, PPQ harder to find. Have you ever experienced unintended double taps with your PPQ? Was it hard to train through?

I've never competed. Which poses the greater issue during competition? no slide lock on empty mag or unintended double taps? Which is the lesser of two evils. I've tried to adjust my grip with the G19, but I like a high thumbs forward grip and don't like having to keep my right thump away from the frame....

Easy to get a G19 anytime, I'd sell that one. I had 1 double tap on my Q5 on my first range trip because I wasn't used to the trigger, hasn't happened since.

For almost 24 years now I carry a Glock in 9mm on duty . First GEN2 and then GEN3. As far as a carry/self defense 9mm pistol , it does not get much better than that. I really like my GEN2 19

I am a G19 guy but keep both.

The P10C trigger is not even close to the PPQ in class....

I have both guns. I would keep the G19.

I get the double tap also but it's because of riding the reset to tight. You have more room for play on G19 reset. I know exactly what you're referring to tho....

You said it well, I'm riding the reset too tight. The trigger is lighter and the reset shorter then with a Glock...

I was thinking of using either the G19 or PPQ for IDPA (most likely).

On more "PLUS" about the Glock- a stock trigger has a mushy predictable stop, right before it breaks. Some people hate the Glock trigger and swap it out but frankly for HD that's what I like about it and have no qualms training with a stock trigger. I know the mall ninjas may not agree with that - so form your own opinion... best of luck!

I myself have never experienced double taps unintentionally on my ppq....nor any of the pistols I own. I have on a 1911 that I didn't know had a hair trigger when I was a kid two rounds went off down range before I knew it....the guy wanted to shoot my usp so I said sure and he said here shoot this...so that was an eye opener on triggers are unique to the pistol and they are not all the same. You can train through any issues you are having with range time it seems you may need to work on a thing or two and you should be good to go with some range time
