    Ammo storage question?

I ve been wondering about this for a while now.. if you stack you Ammo really high or in a large bin.. will the shear weight of the Ammo damage or deform the Ammo on the bottom of the pile?

How high are you talking? I had a bunch of ammo in one of the really big Ammo cans I forgot the size. All the way on bottom was .380 with .45 and .308 on top of them. Nothing got crushed. They all looked brand new after sitting for almost a year.

I have a few cases of ammo stacked on top of each other.. each cases is 50-70 pounds and they re probably stacked 3-4 high.. so can be a significant amount of weight.. could the pressure from that much weight effect the ammo?

Yeah that sounds like way too many cases. Send me one and I'll save the rest of your ammo from getting crushed

Nah. I'd be more worried about exposure to the elements.

Don't forget you live in a earthquake state. One shaker and all that ammo comes tumbling down...likely in glorious fashion.

What happens if bulk ammo is dropped or set on fire?
SAAMI put out this video for firefighters. I know I posted an older version of this some time ago as others may have. I do this for folks that has not seen it.

It's amazing just how stable ammunition is - as long as you don't set off a primer, it's not going off.

Thank you for sharing, Mr. Thomas.

I prefer several smaller lockers on the floor and no more than 5 ammo boxes high stacked.
Light enough for me to move around, but too heavy to easily steal.
Also able to hide with other items stacked on top of the lockers.
