Best G17 Gen 4 External Mods

I got a Gen4 G17 and I'm looking for the best external mods, or factory internal mods I can do to the pistol that won't decrease reliability.

I have Dawson Sights and a larger take down plate ( I know doesn't improve performance). I'm planning on a magwell with maybe a brass insert. Is there such a thing as a factory OEM 3.5lb connector? What else can I do? I'm trying to avoid irreversible mods.

I made a pretty good shot with it the other day on my property

Maybe except for all the misses you didn't mention.

No sense killing snakes, etc, unless they pose a danger to you or livelihood. That snake was controlling other pest populations.

For reliability, best mods are leave it alone.

Vickers mag release, but there's not much else that's glaring.

Keep in mind if you add a mag well, you will have to use extended magazine floor plates, or it will be difficult to do a fast mag insertions. With standard magazines and a mag well, you will have to push the magazines in using your finger tips.

Dead Snakes. Wait until ZirconJohn finds out.

                  Mods?

I don't think Glock will sell you a factory "-" connector. I have a Scherer "-" connector in my G17. Supposedly the Scherer are not good and have a bad reputation on gun boards, but mine is very well made (I worked in the manufacturing industry and know when something is well made).

I had an extended slide stop on several Glock pistols but removed them all. My thumb would hit it under recoil and lock the slide open.

You can buy and put anything you want onto or into that G17Gen4.

Glock Part#721 is the Glock-brand 4.5 pound connector. Here's one source for this connector:

Glock does not (or no longer advertises) a 3.5 pound connector. I wonder if any aftermarket connector advertised as a "3.5" pound connector actually results in a 3.5 pound pull, alone, without doing additional trigger work.

The way the original post sounds seems to be replacing/adding parts just for the sake of adding parts. This is almost like "name all the aftermarket parts on the market for a G17Gen4 and indicate what good they'll do".

As each person has different opinions and different wants/needs, it'd be better to indicate a problem, then ask for a possible solution.

I agree. However my F-I-L had a cabin and he had rattlesnakes on his land and toddlers get into everything and that could be life threatening.

But if he had that rattler for a meal I give snake eater props.

I think your G17 Gen 4 is good to go.

Did you use a CCI snakeshot? I got them in 9mm and 45 ACP but never used them. Now the 44 Mag snakeshot is impressive and I reload them.

You already have the sights and light. The best gen4 connector IMHO is in the TTI Grand Master kit. You could pick add a Gen4 MOS slide and configure that with a FF3 or Trij RMR and suppressor height sights or get a Dueck RBU mount with the tritium sights built-in.

It sounds like your pistol works fine already, and now you're looking to "mod" it and hoping to "not make it perform worse". Um, ok? Just leave it be, man. Why would you want to take a pistol that does exactly what it's supposed to, and start adding a bunch of stuff that the designers never meant for it to have?

If you want a great external mod that won't affect reliability, look for a good holster.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Also I've heard good things about that Glock Widget or whatever the heck it's called - the backplate device that provides an extra layer of safety when holstering your glock. Hopefully someone here knows what I'm talking about. I don't have one, but I've heard it's one of the better glock mods out there, in terms of usefulness and not affecting reliability.
