My wife feels most comfortable shooting my Glock 19. She had to shoot about 4 handguns before she decided she liked that one the best. Go to a range, rent, and let her decide. If I'd gone with my gut I'd have purchased her the wrong gun.

My girlfriend is 4'11" with tiny hands, and absolutely loves my Ruger GP100 6" revolver. Revolver grips are very comfortable, the weight makes a .38 Special feel like a .22LR, and it has a very simple manual of arms.

I was hoping she would like a Glock so I could justify adding a G19 to the stable, but she fell in love with revolvers.

Bottom line: make some educated suggestions, but ultimately let her decide what she gets. If you have the means, let her try a revolver, a polymer/striker fired semi auto, DA/SA semi auto, and a Single Action semi auto. From there, you can figure out what she pefers.

My wife wears small/xtra-small gloves and do you know what she picked out after trying like 7 different pistols? A beefy Beretta 92fs of all things! And she can put 10 rounds within the 9 ring at 7 yards.

Bottom line is exactly what everyone else is saying by let her try everything out. Start by caliber and action type and go by there.

Don't be one of those guys who gets a small gun because of small hands. Often they're sharp on recoil and leads to poor form and uninterest.

take a look at the compact czs as well. the safety versions have steel frames and eat more recoil. the decpocker iterations are aluminum frame if she wants it to be a little lighter.

My mother is a small framed, petite lady with small hands and she likes the M&P 9c and the M&P Shield best. She also has a Glock 19 but doesn't like the grip much so she stopped shooting it.

Good luck, glad to hear she wants to pick it up and learn more.

I took my GF to the range a couple of times, rented a few different things, and also let her shoot my glock 19, and after several options she fell in love with the Glock 19/firearms in general, and is now enrolled in firearms classes and will be purchasing her own 19 once she completes that.

The HK p2000 has a pretty small grip size.

My wife can shoot my P2000 quite well but only with the SA trigger pull. She has a hard time with the first DA pull. Just something to think about.

My wife is quite accurate with my XDM45, on roster the Springfield XD series is a good Glock alternative with smaller grips, if you don't mind a grip safety

My wife actually enjoyed shooting my 1911's, however .45 and 10mm were a bit much for her so I bought her a pair chambered in .38super!

I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

This is what my fiance picked. We went to the store, she held a G19, P238, SD9VE and Bersa Firestorm (same as thunder, but still on-roster).

I went back a couple days later and bought the Bersa so I could surprise her with it. She has since admitted that a couple of my heavy revolvers actually have less recoil than the Bersa, but still that Bersa fits her hands well and is still light enough in the recoil department. Bottom line - you need to let her decide.
