Walther PPK & PPKS RECALL

I just bought a Walther PPK was supposed to deliver next week. I just found out today that they are recalling ALL PPk and PPKS models from the last few years. From what I understand if a round is chambered and you click the safety off the gun may fire, which is obviously bad. They told me it would be a few weeks to retrofit the gun with the recall fix, but if you have a recent PPK then might be good to get it in fast so you don't click the safety off and Plexico yourself.

I was told the same thing. Actually, there is supposed to be a problem with the hold decock/safety device. Even putting the safety on or off can make the gun fire a chambered round without the trigger being pulled. AWESOME!

I do as well. It's just my wife uses the Walther for HD. Got to get this straightened out before she gets wind of this.

This defect is for guns made in the last 3 years.

3 YEARS! How many cops use these as backups? Can you even imagine?

I bought an old "interim" version of the PPK/S that was made between Interarms 1998 and Smith and Wesson 1999. I've just called and that gun is also on the list. If your S/N ends with an "AAA" call Walther and have it checked. You may be in the recall and have it repaired for free.

Actually, it's a 7-year recall (guns made after March 2002), and YES I have one. I've shot this gun a lot, and mostly as double-taps, de-cocking after each pair, so my gun has had plenty of opportunities to mis-fire, but hasn't yet.

Oh well, maybe they'll give me a mag for my trouble. (BTW, thanks for bringing this up.)

I just ordered a PPK and S&W rep told me that it will have t he retro-fitted safety -- but I am still not 100% confident -- it's a CCW pistol, right -? Last thing I want is an unsafe gun in my pocket...
