Ar pistol

I know this has been talked about countless times here... I think I just went through about 100 threads trying to figure out if what I want to do is legal.

I went to a gun show today and got so many conflicting answers from dealers that I feel even more confused.

So to legally make an AR Pistol
1. Buy 80% lower and mill myself
2. Install lpk single shot fixed mag or break open mag and arm brace stock
3. Install block on buffer tube
4. Buy stripped upper install barrel over 6.5 inches with pinned muzzle brake and block gas port do not install gas block.
5. Document it was built as a single shot pistol.

Once this is all done then legally I can convert my single shot pistol to semi auto, correct?

Currently...
Before 01-01-2015 = legal to make SSE pistol into semi-auto pistol.
After 12-31-2014 = unknown (gray) if it is legal to make SSE2 pistol into semi-auto pistol.
After 12-31-2016 = may be illegal to make SSE2 pistol into semi-auto pistol.

Clarity will not be forth coming until CA DOJ releases regulations governing "home built firearms" and lawyers for both sides analyze it.

Until then, it is up to you and your lawyers comfort level on how to proceed.
