I think yours is ok mine has the same cut out at about the 7 or 8 o clock spot.

On mine it looks like a nice clean cut out and not a crack. When reassembling it I noticed that the cut out is for the ejector or that big flat part sticking out on top of the frame to the far left that has the prong at the end. Without the cut out it looks like it would rub and put stress on that part.

If your still worried send me a pic. But I think it should be fine.

      Totally Normal.

Happens everytime to a new 92F/S owner.

Yes, that 8-o'clock slot is normal

After a day at the range I came home to clean my Beretta 92fs pistol. I am wondering if my slide is cracked. PLEASE UNLOAD YOUR PISTOL BEFORE LOOKING!! Look at the rear of the pistol and having the hammer fully cocked. The rectangle area where the hammer hits the pin will/should be a shiny metal. On my slide there is a cut out or a crack about the 8 o'clock position in this area where the hammer falls. I called a few dealers and no one has a 92 in stock so I can compare. It looks like a cut out but I have never noticed this.
I wanted to shoot tomorrow, but not if it will pose a danger to me. Does anyone else have this notch on their slide??? I have a picture I can email someone if they can inspect it tonight. pm me.

              Thanks,

I believe the cut/slot is there to relieve stress on metal.

Mine has it also. At least you are inspecting the weapon and noticing these things, instead of taking chances.
