Range Time with My New 1911

Took my Springfield Loaded Target chambered in 9mm to the range today. This was the 2nd time out with it. First time out, I only got through about 50 rounds. Had quite a few issues with the spent rounds not ejecting properly. A bit of adjustment to the extractor tension did the trick.

Today, I shot about 120 rounds through it. No ejection issues. Very smooth. This gun is so soft to shoot. Trigger is sweet. Like no recoil. Even less than my SP-01. Need to spend more time with her but man, I am pretty happy with it so far.

I got a Dawson FO front sight on order. The black stock front sight was tough for me to acquire.

This was about 30 rounds at 10 yards. About 1 sec cadence. One real bad flyer early on and a couple other stragglers but this is damn near the best I have shot. Maybe not great to others standards but I was pretty stoked. Cannot wait to shoot her again.

Congrats OP! Same experience here with extractor tuning out of the box.

Soon you'll be thinking for starters: checkered front strap, Dawson fiber optic front sight, getting rid of ILS parts+trigger job, mag funnel, more mags (10 rounders).

I wouldn't complain about that group I do just about the same with my SA and I've had it for about 5 years. Just wait until you get more rounds in and refine your SA to shoot more to your liking that hole is going to get smaller with the same amount of rounds.

Thanks man. The range was packed today and they dont allow rapid fire. The guys know me so during the week, when its less busy, I can get a few double taps i and they dont mind. I will post up some results from double taps later in the week.

Haha. Already got the Dawson front sight on its way. We shall see what other upgrades I do as I shoot it more.

The Loaded target is a great gun. I've got one in 45. Sweet shooting guns!!

Dawson frontsight are awesome. Usually on a 1911 you can't just buy a over the counter frontsight. Especially if you get a rear sight too. I bought a Heinie LEDGE Straight 8 rear sight for my EMP. It shot a bit high out of the box but it became exaggerated when I installed the rear sight. I cured the issue with a taller front sight from Dawson. Love their products. If you have any issues use this.. my POI is perfect. I prefer taller sights too....

Thanks for the advice. The Loaded Target comes with an adjustable rear sight. I also measured the height of the stock sight and ordered the same height from Dawson which was 180. I like the way the stock sights are sighted so hoping to get the same result. Figure with the adjustable rear, it should be pretty easy to dial in if needed.

Then you're good to go. Your already smarter than the majority of 1911 owners. The 180 is a nice n tall sight. East to see. Enjoy.
