hey guys. need some help determining if i should jump on this. just walked in a lgs thats only been open a short while. they have a prelock s&w 686 stainless 4" barrel selling on consignment for $650. condition looks really good. recently put a new 4" 586 in jail so was wondering if i should get this too. thanks a bunch

It's a fair-to-good price for Cali....depends on condition.

Of course, it's up to you if you want to add one. If you could start all over again, I'd just buy the 686 first, over the new 586, lol.

You likely can't tell any difference between shooting them, but the 686 prelock will hold value better.

I paid $700 for a nice no dash 686 4" with a very low serial. I thought it was a good deal otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

All the no dashes I saw on gunbroker were the same amount or more.

I currently have a 686-8 and a newer 586. I love the L frame SW. I wouldn't hesitate buying what you mentioned.
