Ruger MKII extractor replacement.

Any direction to a guide or pictures to show how to do it without breaking or losing anything?

I bought a volquartsen extractor and spring because I've been having a lot of stovepipe issues. A bunch of folks on here said that these things usually fix most FTE problems on the MKII and it was eleven bucks, so its worth a shot.

The one I bought says its good for both the 10/22 AND the MKII, if I use the original spring for the MKII...so hopefully its right...

I'll try and explain this the best I can. Once you have the slide/bolt assembly out you'll have to remove the firing pin stop which is the little pin/bolt that goes through the assembly. It should just slide right out with the help of a skinny object like a punch or even just a push with a paper clip. Keep in mind though when you do this the firing pin will probably fall out so you may want to have it upside down so you can see the position of the firing pin return spring once it is removed. Then you'll have to get a small skinny object like a paper clip and push on the plunger that holds pressure behind the extractor. Once you push it far enough in, with your other hand using a pair of pliers, you can try and pull out the extractor. Keep in mind the extractor plunger is under pressure from the spring so if you let go of pressure too fast it could fly out. To instal you'll need to again push in the plunger far enough to slide in the new extractor. Good luck, and I hope I explained that o.k.

When you remove the firing pin, don't lose the little piece under it (a tiny metal pin with a spring slid onto it). That is what applies return force to the FP. It goes in with the clip facing forward and the spring end pressing on the FP "tab".
