    22Mag Recomendations

So I went to the range this past week and my friend brought a Blackhawk that could shoot 22Mag, which we did. I never had fired this round before... just 22LR. I loved it. It surprised me what a hot round that is. I was curious to know what recomendations there are on a handgun that fires this round. Also what are the balistics on this round compared to the 22LR and say 9mm?

If you liked .22 Mag, you should try a .17 HMR. It's a .22 Magnum necked-down to .17. It's amazingly flat out to about 125yds.

I've been seriously considering a single six for a while now. I've got a 77/22 in 22 mag that's lots of fun and plenty accurate out to 100 meters and beyond. The single six also comes with a 22 lr cylinder for some nice cheap shooting, and unlike the 22 autos, it'll shoot just about any ammo.

                  Why not the S&W 647?

Still on the certified list and available in 8.37 or 12" barrel length. I am told that accuracy is superior to the 22 MAG (rilfe shooter's results, though).

What is the difference between (and story behind) the 22 Mag, a 22 WMR, and a 22 WRF?

                      No luck on 647

I couldn't find any info on a 647 at the S&W webpage or on davidsons... only a 617 that shoots 22LR.

It is available at many guns stores across the USA. With it still on the list, you can transfer into California. I did this for my S&W 617 with 8 3/8" barrel.

The 22 WRF is an obsolete caliber that was the first attempt to make a more powerful .22. I believe only CCI makes the 22 WRF.

The 22 WMR and 22 MAG are the same.

                            Getting pricing...

Well I'm getting pricing on the Blackhawk convertible with 22Mag and 22LR. Sadly it will be 39 days before I could pick it up.
