    Need some recommendations

I currently have a CZ P-01. The gun definitely out shoots me, but I just do not like where the slide release is. My fingers seem to rest on top of it and I cannot change the habit.

I'm trying to decide between trading and selling it. Should I trade it for a different handgun, or sell it and just buy something else that catches my attention.

Current handguns I'm thinking about, but not 100% sure about: HK USP 9, Glock 17, HK P2000..

I want to get something that is polymer, in 9mm and just enjoyable to shoot. I will not be carrying this handgun.

    Thanks for your inputs!

Keep current handgun, buy new handguns, eat bacon. Repeat.

Well if you're asking for personal preferences. Out of the mentioned I prefer the Glock 17, P-01 (don't dislike the gun at all), USP then at the end and I don't like at all the P-2000.

Secondly what's the use for the gun? Is your finger on the slide release really a problem, I did it with my VP9 and it never stayed open on the last round but I wasn't doing fast reloads so I never saw it as a problem.

Get a low profile slide release or file down the factory one

          Glock 34 instead of 17.

Acquire Glock. Simply there is no substitute. Anyone who owns one snd sales figures will attest to that.

The number one thing anyone can reasonably tell you is find one that fits your hand well and feels right. It is pretty subjective in that regard.
As for recommendations, it is pretty much the same. Glock/XD/CZ/Sig/etc. You pretty much can't go wrong with anything at Glock price or higher. Although I would say stay away from HK. That is sure to upset some people here, but really my opinion is that they are way over priced for what they are.

                    Need some recommendations

Hold on to what you got, until you're sure you don't like it so much you won't shoot it. Find the pistol(s) that fit you best: go to local ranges and rent and try what pistols you can find.
The range I go to has all of those to rent, plus a lot more: sig sp2022, sd9ve, various 1911's, and some revolvers. Try those out and see if your hand and grip do better while shooting them. It's kind of a pain to buy a pistol in the first place, so selling it without solving the problem for sure is unadvisable--could be pistol, could be technique, could be size of your hands, or grip.

If you're a new-ish shooter, could help to go to a Calguns meet up or some other way to meet someone who can give you tips on how to better shoot what ya got. I've met some nice folks with good tips at the Calguns meets down in Burbank.

And to answer your actual question directly: do both! If you wanna move on for the P-01, put up an ad, with a decent well-researched price, and add a caveat that you will take a trade (+/- cash) on the following pistols. You can invite cAsh only buyers, or find someone who wants your pistol and has shF you want--win win.

What makes you think your fingers won't rest on the other pistols Slide release?

I was notoriously hitting the Slide release on my g19 on accident. Maybe try anew grip and finger placement.

Didn't know about people meeting up in burbank for calgun meets. Maybe I'll join one and ask for some advice from them before trading/selling

Thanks to everyone who posted. Guess I'll keep the gun for a few more months and shoot it quite a bit more. I've put over 1000 rounds through the gun, and just cant seem to get my finger off of the release. Hopefully, with some help I'll be able to stop. I love the gun, but the slide release is truely an issue for me. I do not have the problem with Sigs/Glocks/HKs because I've shot a few hundred out of them, and although I do not shoot as well with them, I did not have this issue.

Where can I found out about the next meet in Burbank?

Try the cz 75 sa, or cz sp01, same quality fit and finish as the p01, but larger. Could just be the p01 is too small. The Calguns meets are/were at the firing line in Burbank. I haven't been lately, but it's like monthly
