    Springfield Professional markings

I've been in the mood to purchase a Springfield Professional for a while now. I just saw one listed as a Professional Operator (didn't know that existed), and the only marking on the slide says Operator, not Professional. The other side of the slide says Springfield Custom Shop. In the listing characteristics, it says it's a TRP. Are all Professional models marked as such, or will some say Operator? Is there such a thing as a Professional Operator? Or is this just a MC Operator? Should I run away from this deal? Btw, the asking price is more in line with that of a Professional than a TRP.

A Brief Review of the Springfield Professional Operator (First posted on Sigforum) Background So a few years ago, in 2001 I believe, long before 1911’s became all the rage at my police department, I was at the range when I was presented with a unique opportunity. I had a chance to shoot six beautiful custom/semi-custom 1911’s side by side. There was a Wilson CQB, a Les Baer Thunder Ranch, a Colt Special Combat Government, a Kimber Royal Gold, a Colt crafted by Bob Chow and finally there w...

same gun, same CRG serial series, or at least used to be..

only the PC9111 [non railed model] gets the PROFESSIONAL rollmark..

the PC9111LR [light rail model] gets OPERATOR like the TRP series..

I originally ordered the light rail until I found out the rollmarks were different..

I have enough rail guns and not likely ever going to carry a light on this one so opted to change my order..

figured down the road, the pro rollmarks may be more valuable or more unique anyways to pass down

if you're in the market, two at Osage just posted in another thread..

      Springfield Pro @ Osage

they used to be on roster if that effects you, good luck.. GET ONE!

What matters is the railed pistols the FBI were issued had Operator on the slide rather than Professional. For collectors and fans of the Pro that is what matters. Get the version you want
